Job Description

The Dishwasher / Commis is responsible for supporting the handling all dishwashing polishing of glassware prior to events at Vendador. Additionally, deep cleaning, occasionally ironing & folding linens, and organization of common storage areas are expected to be completed daily or weekly depending on the scope of the week. The dishwasher is also responsible for maintaining the glassware organization of the FOH room. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Support Executive Chef in during prep days for events by washing dishes and polishing glassware
2. Performance and professionalism dependent: opportunity to work luxury private events and support chef team
3. Organization and deep cleaning of small kitchen and dry storage areas each week
4. Maintaining glassware storage organization
5. Run racks of glassware through the dishwasher after events or the start of every week.
6. Washing plateware and silverware while maintaining a clean working station at all venues if invited to private events (performance dependent)

Who you are: 
We are now hiring an Dishwasher/Commis to join our team - As a critical member of the culinary team, a successful Dishwasher/Commis will prioritize positivity, passion, hard work and flexibility. You will also have previous experience working in a collaborative and food forward environment, and will support the Executive Chef as needed.

Qualified individuals should possess a strong attention to detail and cleanliness, as well as a hunger and inner drive for success. This team member must have the ability to perform essential job functions under pressure, while maintaining professionalism when working under stress. If successful during first few weeks working at the kitchen, candidates must be able to adapt to a variety of kitchens and be comfortable working out of client’s homes.

While our kitchen is located right off the CTA Green Line for ease of commuting, having a car is preferred but not required.

What you can expect:

• Schedule changes weekly depending event needs, but shifts are Tuesdays - Saturdays, 10-4pm.  Candidates must be available during this timeframe. Minimum 3 days availability each week.
• Complete shift work, as assigned, timely, with a sense of urgency, and thoroughly in accordance with department standards
• Polish glassware carefully, quickly, and with a committed attention to detail.
• Manage and maintain proper storing temperatures in accordance to DOH regulations
• Willingness to be a team player and help in all areas of day to day operation
• Support the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and all kitchen team members with daily tasks to ensure readiness for service
• Maintain all kitchen cleanliness standards and all aspects of the culinary program
• Execute all assigned cleaning tasks with the highest possible standards of accuracy and in a timely manner
• Assist in daily setup and break down of the kitchen as requested and take great care of the equipment and facilities
• Consistently uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation
• Participate in teamwork and foster harmonious working climate
• Embrace change and deliver top results no matter the obstacle
• Learn and retain standard operating procedures for all sanitation duties while consistently following a timeline and cleaning project schedule. Partner with kitchen team to promote teamwork and efficient excellence in station turnover and end of shift breakdown.
• Work with the kitchen team to keep all cookware and storage containers in good shape and returned to storage areas properly.
