Collaborate with classroom teachers to improve overall literacy achievement. Qualifications Strong knowledge of current elementary literacy research and pedagogy. Experience differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students. Strong knowledge of effective MTSS models. Proven ability to use data to inform instruction and measure student progress. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other staff. Ability to create engaging and effective individual and small group literacy lessons. Strong organizational and time management skills. Reading Recovery certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred. Certifications Maine DOE Certification - 092: Literacy Specialist OR Maine DOE Certification - 020: Elementary Teacher with the ability to obtain certification within a reasonable timeframe will be considered. Travel Requirements Travel between schools or district buildings may be required. Reports To: Designated Principal(s) Education: Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university. Master's degree in Reading or a related field preferred. Experience: Teaching experience in elementary education. Experience working with all facets of MTSS in a school setting preferred. Compensation: According to the RSU #9 Professional Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement RSU #9 is an AA/EOE employer.
